BEVERLY HILLS, that's where I want to be, livin in Beverly Hills
Posted on May 24th, 2008.Relax Mom, the title of the post is a line from a song.
Last weekend Bill and I went to LA to do a charity event for my work. Our hotel was a few blocks outside of Beverly Hills so we were very near all the cool things to see and do! Let me give you a little run down on the pre-game that happened prior to this trip. Well, as my faithful blog readers know, I randomly decided to destroy my living room two weeks before. We worked hard and we were ready to lay the floors on Tuesday (before we leave for LA on Saturday). I was beginning to have panic attacks that the floors would not be finished by Wednesday (which did I mention this was the day that my brother was arriving from Wisconsin and he has never seen my house before) so I took off work on Tuesday so we could get it done in one day. We worked all day and almost (key word is almost. . . and they are still almost) finished. Wednesday I had to go to work and my brother arrived. We spent the evening with him and the fam. As if there wasn’t enough going on, I still hadn’t decided on a dress to wear to the event that I was going to in LA on Sunday. So, my precious friend Cari altered two dresses for me and came over to do fittings several nights that week. I won’t bore you with the rest of the details of the week but I think you get the idea that it was a bit CRRRRAZY before we left. And to add to our exhaustion, our flight left at 6:30am on Saturday morning which meant we had to get up at 4am. Did I say CRRRRAZY?
I was so excited I didn’t really feel tired once I got going but I guess some of the tiredness went to my brain when we landed at LAX. It was only 8am in Cali and I had visions of all of the sightseeing that we could fit into that day. So we grabbed our luggage and ran outside to catch the shuttle to the rental cars. I saw one coming as we were coming out so I told Bill to run and we got on. I was thinking, wow this is going so smoothly. If you’ve never been to LAX all of the rental car places are about 5 to 10 minutes away from the airport (and they aren’t within walking distance of each other) so you have to ride a shuttle. As we sat down and the shuttle took off I said to Bill, “I guess this bus is sponsored by Hertz.” He said, “What?” I said, “I guess this one is sponsored by Hertz. I sure hope they go to Enterprise.” He said, “I thought we were renting with Hertz.” I said, “No, I told you 50 times I got the car at Enterprise.” He responded with, “Then why would you run to get on a big yellow bus that has Hertz across the side of it?” I politely responded with “Why would you run with me to get on a big yellow bus that says “Hertz” on the side?” He stood by his claim that he thought we rented with Hertz. That’s when I explained my thoughts on the Hertz sponsorship and then sunk down in my chair and decided to be quiet. An hour later (after riding the Hertz bus back to the terminal, stopping to pick up people at every stop along the way and waiting for an Enterprise bus) we finally got our car and were on our way!
Once we finally stopped touring the airport, we did do lots of fun sightseeing and had a great time! Below are some pictures from our sightseeing that day. I’ll do a separate post about the charity event and the celebrities we met.
