Welcome to the Hood!
Posted on May 20th, 2008.I just love playing little word games with my children (well, really anyone that will listen willingly or unwillingly). For example, I never call my children by their correct names (which I did choose), I always change up the names of random objects and I like to practice other languages (which I have made up myself). Parker, my oldest son, responds to Sharkie, Shark Boy, Shark Attack, Lava Boy (this goes with Shark Boy), Parkendoor, Frohead (this is when he needs a hair-cut) and older boy. And amazingly he hasn’t been emotinally scarred. I have names for the other little cuties but I won’t bore you with that. The funny thing is they all go along with most things I tell them and even call each other the names I’ve made up. So, tonight I told the boys we were going to visit the new neighbors. I told them Mommy bought a cake (because I would never try to harm our new neighbors by giving them something I cooked) and we’re going to go next door and welcome them to the hood. I went over with them why it is a nice thing to do this and then I asked Parker what we should say when they open the door. He proudly responded, “Hi, we’re the Jones Family, welcome to the hood.” I LOVE IT!! The story would have been perfect if he would have actually done it when we got over there. Instead we used our best acting skills (which Bill and I recently perfected in Hollywood. . . more on that later) and pretended to be normal.

You are cracking me up! Love this blog. I will put it with my favorite blogs to read everyday. I am so adding yours to the rotation! Sharkie, lava boy, older boy – love it. I always did love the way you crazy Kidd sisters could come up with a name for everyone. I try, but have to say- the most creative names i have for mine are sister and brother! BTW- you look fantastic!
