Everyone Needs a Little Bad Dancing!

Posted on June 5th, 2008.
Today is my favorite Kindergartener’s last day of school. I can’t believe Parker is going to be a big first grader now! :( This means several things. One, I must be getting older. Two, soon he will start to act embarrassed by me. Three, he will soon start liking girls. Which leads to four, and that I won’t be his favorite girl. Then it’s marriage and his wife would rather spend time with “her” family than the “in-laws.” Yikes! I’m going to put some bricks on his head right now and try to stop this growth! I’m just kidding really. I am excited to see my children grow into the Godly men they are created to be! I’ll stop having my panic attack now and get back to today!
So, this morning I decided to wake my children with the most appropriate morning song of the day, “What Time Is It?” from High School Musical 2.

Who doesn’t love that song? (I must add at this point that I am the “annoying morning person” in the house according to Big Eagle – this is Bill’s nickname of the week. No one thinks I’m funny or accepts my attempts to cheer them AT ALL before 10am). Everyone that is anyone knows that you cannot listen to the music from High School Musical without dancing. So, I attempted to start a “last day of school dance party” in the kitchen at 7am this morning but quickly found myself dancing alone. I know that I have not been blessed with “dancing skills” (I was in talks with the producers from the Racheal Ray show last year to be on her show in a segment about people that can’t dance – and I’m not kidding) but it can really put you in a good mood when you just let it loose! No one in my family seems to agree. I just wanted to start the day off with some excitement so I cranked up the music and started doing some of my best moves. Ayden stands and stares at me screaming, “I want breakfast.” Parker runs to the playroom and sits on the couch with his hands over his ears yelling, “STOP IT MOMMY.” as he starts to cry. And Griffin, (who hopefully is taking on the good morning person characteristics of his mother) agreed to dance with me as long as I held him while dancing. After the four minute song of torture was over I had my workout in for the day and had successfully upset the whole house. Even Bill walked in when it was over and asked why I insist upon doing this stuff. Geez (I like using words from the Brady Bunch too sometimes) people! It’s not a crime to be in a good mood in the morning! No worries here though. . . it takes a lot to get me down. A few negative comments will not steal my dancing joy. So no, boys, the dancing is not over. Tonight it’s karaoke and dancing to Hairspray!!
