Happy Father's Day!

Posted on June 12th, 2008.

In honor of the upcoming holiday weekend (notice I said weekend. . . I like to give my man two days of honoring), I decided I should do a blog about the father of my children (and also my husband. . . you have to clarify these days), the incredibly handsome, wonderfully talented, amazing man of my dreams, William Edsel Bailey Jones (aka: Bill Jones, Big Daddy, Big Eagle, Haskell, Eddie, Ed, Man with Bald Head, Lover, Lovie, etc.). Please take a moment to notice that I put three sets of parentheses in that one sentence. I think I need to go back to English because I must be breaking some sort of rule with that. Back to Billy. There are so many things I could write about him and the wonderful person that he is but I’ve decided to try and keep you all from wanting to vomit with too much mush that I would save most of that for his card and instead give you a few of my favorite things about my husband (father of the kids).

First of all, I am amazed at how crazy talented he is. He has a photographic memory and remembers facts and details like he’s studied them for years. Not only that, but he is a self-taught web designer, graphic designer, guitar player (a real guitar and not Guitar Hero like some of you freaks), tile layer, wood floor layer, toilet fixer, pool boy, and the list goes on. And the first three of those things he has mad skills at and gets crazy props for his work (I’ve been wanting to use this lingo in a sentence. . . I know, it doesn’t really fit me but it is true). And since it’s Father’s Weekend I must talk about his fathering skills. He is a loving, caring, nurturing, fun (this is why I usually call him my fourth son) Dad to his three boys. I love watching my four boys play like boys and have a blast! Since I grew up with a sister I’m not really good at wrestling, sword fighting, light sabres, and throwing balls at each other but he is. It brings me so much joy to yell on a daily basis, “Someone’s going to get hurt.” Most of the time no one does get hurt and they all have fun together being boys. I’m thankful that my husband takes the time to be a boy with his boys.

And lastly Bill is an amazing father because he is a loving husband and an example to our boys of how they should treat their wives. He treats me like a queen and teaches our boys to respect and honor their mother. He works hard to provide for his family and always puts our needs and wants before his own. He is a Godly man and spiritual leader in our home.

I could go on about the father of my children but like I said earlier, I don’t want to be responsible for any messes on your carpet. I wish that I were a rich woman and I could buy my husband a gift that would make him scream with excitement (which by the way has only happened when the Texas Longhorns won the National Championship). But since I’m not, I’ve decided to give my husband a virtual Father’s Day present (this is a gift I would buy him if I could). So, this year Bill is receiving a virtual 52″ Flat Screen TV (I don’t really know all the specs of the one he wants so I guess it’s a good thing it’s virtual). Happy Father’s Day honey! We love you!
