The Compassionate One and the Practical One
Posted on August 13th, 2008.The new baby in Mommy’s tummy has really got my boys to thinking (which can always lead to interesting conversations). This weekend Ayden came up to me and asked how Aunt Chay got the baby out of her tummy (which was 18 months ago) and Parker was standing in the wings and chimed in “yeah, how are you going to get that baby out of your tummy?” I didn’t want to freak them out by giving out too much information (this will be my 4th c-section) so I just said that the doctor takes the baby out of the tummy. Of course, that answer was not sufficient and Ayden said, “I know that, but how?” So in my most non-graphical explanation I could come up with I said, “the doctor cuts a hole in Mommy’s tummy and then pulls the baby out and then he sews my tummy back together and that’s it!” Ayden, the compassionate one, responded with, “Well that’s going to hurt you Mommy.” I assured him that Mommy would be given LOTS of medicine and wouldn’t feel a thing. Parker, the practical one, responded with, “Well, it looks like your going to need a needle and some thread.” I agreed and laughed as I watched his little brain spinning thinking of all the other supplies we might need to get this job taken care of. I love how they are so different!

That is so cute!!! I have had csections too. Kind of glad I get to explain the cutting out of the baby rather than the other way!
