Prelude to the Trip
Posted on November 17th, 2008.Once again I do apologize for the long lulls between posts. So many things have been going on and there has been so little time to type! However, I will try my hardest to do better. This week we are preparing for our adventure to ALASKA!! We are sooooo excited to go spend time with family and see the beauty that Alaska has to hold. Of course it is crazy around here as I try and figure out how to pack for five people for two weeks! I know we can wash clothes and all of that but I am a perfectionist and I have some sort of disease when it comes to pre-trip packing anxiety. I have been doing laundry like a mad woman. Everything is clean with the exception of the clothes we are wearing. I’ve been debating just giving the kids a bath in their clothes tonight to kill two birds with one stone. I actually did try this on one of the kids before and the reaction was not so great.
We leave this Thursday and will arrive in Alaska on Friday. Please say many prayers for us whenever we cross your minds! NONE of our children have ever been on an airplane before. We’re not one of those “smart” families that takes their children on a short flight the first time to get them used to flying. Nah, we just throw ‘em on board and go across the country the first time! I’m sure I will have lots of stories to share about our trek to Alaska so stay tuned.
I have to run. We’re off to try out the new Souper Salad in Southlake. Because I do love me some soup and salad for supper. And besides, who cooks the week they are leaving on a trip? Well, then again, I don’t cook most weeks but at least this week I have a better excuse!

That sounds like some trip – take lots of pictures and have a great time!
Wow! You are going to have a great time. And your littles will do fabulous. We have flown trans-atlantically with ours a few times and I have some tricks if you want them. Just email me. One thing we always do ahead of time is contact the airline and request bulkhead seating. Accomodates long legs, active children, and a pregnant bladder without inconveniencing other passengers
