Drama Momma! That's me!
Posted on January 23rd, 2009.I really try hard not to be a drama queen and I think that most people thought I wasn’t until they entered my life via blog and Facebook and now you all just think I’m crazy! So in keeping with my normal life theme it has been a bit dramatic around here lately. I only have a few minutes to type so I’ll just make a list of some of the happenings around here in the last week!
~We somehow moved from finishing the nursery to decorating our empty living room. We now have furniture, a rug (which I bought and returned 6 rugs and re-purchased 2 I returned all in 24 hours), coffee table, pictures, etc. I won’t even go into how this all came about but last Friday there was no furniture and today there is! Yeah!
~In the meantime we still did have to finish the nursery. Bill was going to paint the crib and armoire black and ran into some trouble on Sunday afternoon. I had purchased him a hand held paint sprayer because I thought it would make it easier. Let’s just say we have a nice black floor in our garage now, we threw away our crib, and hired someone to paint the blasted armoire! Bless Big Daddy’s heart!
~Since we threw away the crib I had to order a new one! It arrived yesterday and after 4 hours of work I assembled it all by myself. It really wouldn’t have taken that long but there was a ton of other things going on while I was trying to work on it so it was a bit hard to stay focused! The thought did cross my mind when I got stuck under the crib (with my big stomach while trying to install the drawer) that this probably wasn’t the best thing for a girl about to pop to be doing. But Bill wasn’t home so I lifted the crib off of me and crawled out. Yes, I can barely walk today! But, I got to put in my crib bedding finally and I LOVE IT!! Here’s a pic of the finished product! (I’ll post more pictures of the nursery once it’s all finished!)
~Griffin came storming in our room at 3am this morning barking like a seal. For those of you that don’t have a bizillion kids like us this means croup! Griff gets it about 2 or 3 times a year and usually ends up in the emergency room. It causes some little airway in your throat to close up and can make it hard to breathe. He usually has to go get a shot to open up the airway but thankfully we’ve been through this enough times now that we were able to avoid that. Sweet husband though was freaking out asking me if I wanted my child to die and telling me to get dressed so we could go to the hospital. I was the calm one that re-assured him he was ok. I just thought it was funny. Isn’t it supposed to be the Mommy that freaks out in these situations? Bless him again!
~This morning I somehow hit the panic button on my key chain on our security alarm for our house. This was right as Griffin was about to open the door. It scared him to death to say the least! We turned it off and all left to go take Parker to school. We stopped to get gas and my cell phone rang. It was my neighbor wondering if we were in our house since the police were about to kick in my door! Apparently if you hit the panic button the alarm company doesn’t call you they just immediately dispatch the police (even if you turn it off)! The policeman somehow knew I was pregnant and since he couldn’t get a response from in the house and had gotten the panic code call he was very concerned. Luckily, my neighbor got a hold of me before he kicked it in!
But that was really sweet of him to be so concerned. I talked to him on the phone and he said he felt much better now that he knew I was ok. I don’t even know him! Trophy Club Cops are the best (unless you get pulled over)!
~And finally, I went for my weekly chat with my new BFF Dr. White this morning. He is estimating the little princess to already be 7 lbs! For those of you that don’t know my c-section is scheduled 3 weeks earlier than my due date so I’m only 34 weeks. According to the Baby Center email I just got yesterday she should be about 4 3/4 lbs right now! Wow!! We really make some big kids I guess! Good thing she only has 3 more weeks to grow in there or she might come out 15 lbs and I might not be able to walk!
I think that’s it for now! Here’s hoping for a nice relaxing weekend with little or no drama! Yeah, right!

It looks so good! Sorry the painting didn’t work out so well! I LOVE the bedding. I know she is going to love it all! How do the boys feel about all the pink?? Have a great day and thanks for sharing your funny stories!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the nursery! It looks so great and my mom and I can’t wait for your shower! You’ve done a great job and you blog posts crack me up!!
I wish you could hear me cackling laughing out loud. Because I so relate. I remember being HUGE preggo with Notorious trying to put together a VERY unnecessarily complicated travel crib. Oh. My. Goodness. I was sweating, saying MANY MANY choice words and I think I am lucky I didn’t have a heart attack. Needless to say, the fancy schmancy bed went back to the store and we now have a nice cheap GRaco no frills one that has served us and all our friends very well thank you very much.
I adore the nursery. I love how it is so an expression of your personal taste. So feminine and sweet.
