It might be a crazy life but it's OUR life!

Posted on March 30th, 2009.

I thought I’d steal a line from the opening of Jon & Kate Plus 8!  That phrase kept playing in my head a lot these last few weeks.  I have had many plans to sit down and update the blog but have a hard time finding a free moment or two free hands with which to type!  Here’s a brief synopsis of our last month:

1)  Migraines, migraines, migraines!  That’s what I’ve had!  Ugh!  I’ve been to two neurologists who have both point blank asked me why I was there if I was planning to keep nursing!  You can’t take any of the migraine medicines while nursing so I can either deal with it or stop nursing!  I never take no for an answer so I’m moving on to my plan B and going to see the Chiropractor that helped Bill with his herniated disk a few years back.  Drugs can’t be the ONLY answer.  :)
2)  My son (who is old enough to know better) put a “Goobie” ball (a magnetic steel ball the size of a marble) in his mouth while he was lying down in his bed.  It slipped down his throat and got stuck there.  He came running into us hysterical.  He was pointing to his throat and saying “it’s stuck.”  Once he told me what was in there I became hysterical!  And as any Mother of the Year would do I lost it and started crying and asking him why he would do this to me followed by a “do you want to die!?”  I know. . . I’m a loser but I am a little post-partum hormonal and sleep deprived!  Bill took him to the ER and they x-rayed him and found it down in his stomach.  Apparently it had scratched his throat on the way down and was giving him the sensation it was still stuck in there.  Hmm, probably because a steel ball the size of a marble is not meant to GO DOWN YOUR THROAT!  Just a thought!  He had to get rid of it the “natural way” but we’ve had another x-ray and there are no more signs of the Goobie Ball.  I did apologize to my son, husband, daughter, God and the surrounding counties for my hysteria!  But I did have fun calling older boy all sorts of fun nicknames while he still had the magnet ball in his tummy (i.e. chick magnet, magnet boy, etc.)  I even convinced him that we could stick him to the refrigerator and use him to hang up his art work.  He actually went and tried it and found out I was kidding.  Oh, and did I mention that this was on our 9 year wedding anniversary?  Yep, who would of thought 9 years earlier I’d be sending my 7 year old to the ER with a magnetic ball stuck in his throat!
3)  Ayden got a nasty stomach virus and was very sick for two days.  I won’t go into the details of this but we’ll just say I sprayed Lyesol EVERYWHERE!  Even the walls!  I was praying every passing minute that no one else would get it.  Thankfully, no one has yet and it’s been 2 weeks since he was sick!
4)  Our sweet London (who is 6 weeks old today) started having acid reflux problems.  She is now on 2 medicines that seem to be helping her.  However, it is a lot for my brain to keep up with remembering what time I fed her, and to give her one medicine every 6 hours (and it must be 20 minutes before she eats) and the other medicine every 8 hours.  Geez!  Let’s just say most days I’m a little off on those times but I do my best!
5)  I tried to start working again 2 days a week when London was 2 weeks old but by 4 weeks old realized I am an idiot and requested a few more weeks off.  What mother in America with 4 children tries to go back to work 2 weeks after having her 4th c-section!?  Sometimes, I wonder if I have a brain!  But for those of you that wonder the same thing about me it has now been verified by the MRI that I DO have one!  I just forget to use it!
6)  Bill has been working around the clock (literally) since we got home from the hospital!  He forgot that he is a human and that his body DOES require sleep!  He now has a curfew and must come to bed by midnight!

It has been a little crazy (as usual) to say the least but crazy IS our normal!  I’ll try to do better about updating the ole’ blog and next time think of something more fun to write about!  Peace out people!
