“Everyone needs compassion. Love that’s never failing…”
Posted on December 9th, 2011.First, I have to apologize in advance because although this post will give more detail than my somewhat cryptic tweet earlier today it is still going to be vague and require you to “read between the lines.” This is after all the dubya dubya dubya (for those who don’t speak slang that is W.W.W.) and ANYONE in any PLACE in the ENTIRE world can read this so I have to be careful. Especially at this point. That being said I will now de-crypticize as much as possible. Buckle your seatbelts.
Oh, but before I do that let me answer a few questions that will immediately pop into your head as soon as I begin de-crypticizing. I just want you to have your answers ahead of time so you don’t get distracted “wondering” and forget to read the rest of my blog post. That’s right, I’m always looking out for you! Ahem… here we go. No, we do not smoke crack. No, we do not smoke anything. Ever. We don’t even breathe therefore blowing smoke out of our mouths when we go outside and it’s really cold. No, we do not own a Sprinter Van nor have any plans to purchase one. No, we are not trying to get a show on TLC. Although, I am a self-proclaimed comedian.
No, we don’t like it when you stare at us when we walk in public places as if we just unloaded a field trip bus into your establishment. Yes, we have a TV. No, we (we as in me) are not pregnant. Yes, we have passed psychological exams and have been found to be sane. No, you may not disagree. Yes, we love Jesus. Yes, we love our family. Yes, we love others. Yes, we will do whatever Jesus tells us to do no matter how cuh-razzzzy you think we are. No, we are not getting a dog. Yes, we will be disobedient if Jesus tells us to get a dog. Or a cat. Or anything of the animal species.
With all of THAT being said I really will now get to the important part. When we adopted Lilli earlier this year we knew that we were called to adopt another daughter in the future. We assumed we would choose a child younger than Lilli and we were just waiting and praying about that. However, God’s plans sometimes don’t match up with “our” plans. Earlier this week we found out about a girl who is 13 years old that desperately desires a family. She has lived in an orphanage her entire life and watched her best friends all get adopted last year. She has kept in contact with them via Skype and begs them to find her a family too. The “place” where she lives never started paperwork for her to be able to be adopted because they didn’t think anyone would want her. In this “place” once a child turns 14 they can NEVER be adopted. Even if they have a family waiting for them if the family does not have their Gotcha day before the 14th birthday they will NEVER be adopted. This girl is turning 14 at the end of February. Because the “place” she is at just started paperwork for her to be able to be adopted it has left a VERY short, almost impossible time frame for anyone to be able to get through all the necessary steps to get to her in time.
Our family (and that means the kids too) have prayed and we are going for her. We are trying to expedite every possible step so that we have a chance at getting to her before her birthday. Nothing is guaranteed. Her file is still not even in the “system” yet so we cannot even be officially matched. There is a huge chance that when it comes in we may not be allowed to be matched with her because of the short time frame. It is a very detailed process that needs to occur in two months!! So I’m not going to try and list all of the things that need to happen but I’m just asking you to pray for miracles. And I mean one miracle after another. We are prepared that there may be another family who is ahead of us in the process who might want her and be able to get to her faster. If that is the case we will gladly let her go to that family. The most important thing is that she gets a family. However, we cannot sit by and wait because there is no time for that so we will be charging forth like mad dogs until the door gets slammed in our face. So please pray!! Pray first that she gets in a loving family before her birthday. Pray second that if it’s us that He miraculously gets all of our paperwork through EVERY stinkin step it’s gotta go through at record, miracle breaking speed. Pray third that He provides the money we need to make this happen.
The boys are praying their little hearts out. I asked Ayden (8) why he would want to adopt this girl and his response was “Because she doesn’t have a family and that’s not right. Jesus wants everyone to have a family. We have a family and she can be a part of it. Go get her.” Needless to say, the boys are all on board.
The lady at our adoption agency said to me yesterday, “You realize you’re pretty much asking us to do the impossible, to move mountains.” My response was, “Yes, I realize that. But that’s not a problem for God. He’s in the mountain moving business.”
Ready. Set. Pray.

Beth Goff sent me your link and asked me to pray. And I loved reading your post. Because we decided, just 4 months after adopting a 16 month old girl from China, that we were being called to adopt a 12 year old girl. And I knew people would think we’re crazy. (We also have a 3 year old boy.) But we knew what God was calling us to do. Caroline LiYun turned 13 a few weeks ago, and we’ve been home 5 months. So I’m praying hard for everything to be expedited so you can bring this child home! And I’m here for any questions about older child adoption, adopting out of birth order, etc. I’m still figuring it all out, but I’m learning every day.
So thrilled for you and will be praying!
[...] up, go get our girl!!!!!!! Praise YOU JESUS!!!! For YOU are good!!!!!!!! And just as a short refresher as to why He is so good let’s go back to this post just 8 weeks … Praise YOU [...]
