Keeps Getting Better and Better
Posted on February 13th, 2012.This entire (two month) adoption journey has been so full of so many miracles that I almost hesitate to continue to share more because you people are going to think I make this stuff up. However, some things are just too good to have been made up and that has pretty much been the theme of Eliana’s adoption. So here goes another cool story.
When we adopted Lilli God put it on our hearts to share our story. Not because we wanted attention or anything like that but because we wanted our story to encourage others and help build their faith to either step out and adopt or step out and do whatever it is He is calling you to do in life. I had researched a few options to be able to do that but nothing worked out the way I was hoping so we just stuck with blogging and posting our pictures we had taken and the mission was accomplished I believe. This time around with Eliana’s adoption the story was kind of telling itself through my blog but everything was happening so fast I didn’t even have time to think about photography.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago when miracle after miracle kept happening with Eliana’s paperwork. One day a friend posted some pictures on Facebook from their arrival home at the airport from adopting their son. She posted about this amazing photographer who just started a non-profit to take photographs for adoptive families. I immediately went to her website and was so excited to see her mission is to tell people’s adoption stories in order to raise awareness and promote adoption. I emailed her right away to see if she’d be up to hopping on a plane and flying half way around the world with us in 3 weeks fully expecting her to say “oh, we’d love to but…” A few hours later she emailed back and explained how she was in tears and in awe of God’s goodness. Several weeks earlier another friend of ours that is an attorney happened to be helping her set up her non-profit (she lives 3 hours from here so the fact that she got connected with this friend is pretty crazy). She was explaining to him what her non-profit would do and he told her about us and how we were trying to adopt Eliana. This was in December right when we first got started. She went home and got on our blog and read all about Eliana and what we were doing. She felt drawn to Eliana and our story and wanted to reach out to us and ask if she could help us share our story. She thought we might think she was a stalker so she didn’t call.
She got very busy with setting up the non-profit and running her photography business and then boom I emailed. How amazing is God?!?!
So, all that to say, our new friend Whitney and her husband, the founders of The Archibald Project, will be flying half way across the world with us and Eliana’s story will be told in beautiful form … through amazing photographs and videography. We believe this is more than just an adoption story. We believe this is God’s story. And since it’s not really our story, well, then it’s not really possible to keep silent about the amazing things He has done. He has a pretty amazing plan and we are humbled that He would let us be a part of it.
I told you. It just keeps getting better and better.
If you love adoption and building people’s faith to adopt consider supporting this amazing ministry. The Archibald Project charges nothing to the adoptive families and pays for their own expenses. Check out their website http://www.thearchibaldproject.com and share with your friends!
